Discipline Procedures

KSA uses positive reinforcement to build confidence and self-esteem. There is no corporal punishment — consequences are matched to the situation (for example, a learner who defaces school property must clean it up; lost property is reimbursed by parents).

Bullying is not tolerated, and parents are informed by the headteacher. Matters concerning school fee payment are handled confidentially between school and parents, without involving learners.

Attendance & Absence

Learners are expected to attend every day. In the event of sickness, parents should inform the Headteacher before 07:00. Latecomers must report to the Headteacher, and lateness is recorded in the Attendance Register.

In the event of a notifiable illness such as diarrhoea or vomiting, children should be kept at home until 48 hours after the last symptom.

Uniform & Equipment

Parents pay into the school bank account for uniform; the accountant then provides the correctly sized item to the learner.

Children provide their own notebooks and pens; textbooks are provided by the school.

Extra-Curricular Activities

  • Karate — Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays
  • Traditional & Modern Dance — Tuesdays
  • Sport (Football & Rounders) — Wednesdays, Fridays
  • Languages Club (English, French, Swahili, Kinyarwanda) — Mondays, Thursdays
  • Knitting & Recorders — lunchtimes
  • Debating — each class presents on a chosen theme

Health, Safety & Emergencies

Medication brought to school must be handed to the class teacher with instructions. In case of sickness, parents are informed and, if necessary, the child is taken to the Health Centre.

In an emergency such as fire, teachers take learners to a collection point outside and wait for emergency services. The gate is guarded, and the Headteacher is alerted to visitor arrivals.

Home–School Communication

Parent/Teacher meetings are held once a term. Nursery parents may have an informal chat with teachers on Wednesdays after break.

A Suggestion/Worry Box is available for parents and learners. School reports are issued each term, with monthly test results sent home.

Transport

Parents may sign up their children for the school taxi at a cost of 12,000 RWF per month. Details are available from the school accountant, who will provide the driver's contact information.
